The key to a long lasting, high horsepower setup is in the quality of the tune. For this reason we recommend a standalone engine management system for any high power build where reliability and driveability are desired.

A common misconception is that an aftermarket EMS is only for race cars; they don't drive good on the street. This is false. A properly set up EMS will drive just like stock, with working A/C, idle control, and instrumentation. When the thottle is opened, it becomes "all business". Its all in the tune.

For the features and price, the Haltech line of ECUs cannot be beat. We run these ECUs on our race cars and street cars here at Illicit, they have been proven across many different engine setups and driving styles.

We offer installation & tuning services on the Haltech line of ECUs. We build a custom harness for the application using the flying lead harness from Haltech, with full integration into the factory gauges, idle control, and air conditioning if so equipped. We have installed Haltechs in everything from LSx engines to SR20DET powered drift cars to rotary powered monsters, so no job is too complex!

Haltech installation services are rated from normal to complex. Normal would be your average RX-7 or SR20DET-powered 240SX; no more than 4 injector and 4 ignition outputs. Complex would be 6-8 injector outputs and 4-6 ignition outputs...your typical 20B 3-rotor, 1JZ/2JZ, VG30DETT, or LSx series of engines. No matter what level, all harnesses are built using Raychem DR-25 heat shrink tubing and all connections are crimped for maximum reliability and life expectancy. Our harnesses are bulletproof once built!

Installation services also come with a complimentary tune to whichever boost level you prefer.

High energy ignition system

We have found the AC Delco "truck" coils, aka the D585 coils, to be a cost-effective high performance coil for aftermarket EMS systems. These coils deliver 120 millamps of energy, have built in ignitors, and have a compact size that allows easy mounting! The best part is as they are a AC Delco part, they are available just about anywhere! We run these extensively with our Haltech installations and they have proven themselves in the harsh environment of a boosted rotary at 20+ psi with a large turbo, also running methanol injection! Stable combustion down to the high 9:1 air fuel ratio! These coils can also be used with any EMS that allows a falling edge trigger and dwell/mS control.
